Chronological Overview of Ghana's Presidents
- Led Ghana to independence in 1957 as Prime Minister.
- Overthrown in a coup in 1966.
- Prime Minister under a ceremonial president, Edward Akufo-Addo.
- Government overthrown in 1972 by a military coup.
- Edward Akufo-Addo (father of the current president, Nana Akufo-Addo) was chosen as the ceremonial president. In this system, his role was largely symbolic, with limited political power.
- The executive functions of government were controlled by the Prime Minister and his Cabinet.
- Led the National Redemption Council, later renamed Supreme Military Council.
- Took over after Acheampong.
- Overthrown in the 1979 coup led by Flight Lt. Jerry Rawlings.
- Led the Provisional National Defence Council (PNDC) until a return to democracy.

MPOHOR-DISTRICTS
The Mpohor/Wassa East District, located in Ghana's Western Region, was originally established in 1988 from the former Wassa-Fiase-Mpohor District Council. On June 28, 2012, it was divided into two districts: Wassa East District, with Daboase as its capital, and Mpohor District, with Mpohor as its capital.
Wassa East District:
The district assembly is located in the eastern part of Western Region and has Daboase as its capital town.
Wassa-Fiase-Mpohor District:
The Wassa-Fiase-Mpohor District Council, located in Ghana's Western Region, was established in 1975. In 1988, it was divided into two new districts: Wassa West District, with Tarkwa as its capital, and Mpohor/Wassa East District, with Daboase as its capital. The former district was situated in the eastern part of the Western Region, with Tarkwa serving as its capital.
